Application & Registration Timetable

  • Application Deadlin : by the end of November 16th
     
  • Notification of Admission (by phone and E-mail): In November.

    Please keep your phone handy and check your emails often.
     
  • Enrolment Confirmation Due : By end of January In order to secure their place, the admitted applicants who accept our offer must complete and sign the Enrolment Confirmation Form, which will be attached to the notification E-mail, and then return it by either E-mail or fax.

Eligibility

We welcome applicants with an undergraduate degree, preferably in social science (not a must), and with experiences generally in the non-profit or non-governmental sectors in Asia. We are looking for individuals with sensitivity to and involvement in issues such as the promotion of social change, human rights, democratization, local community development, solidarity across borders, and humanitarian aid in Asia.

3. Photocopy of the previous degrees (Bachelor and/or Master)

4. TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC test results
If you are unable to provide a test result due to the time limit, you should state the level of English that you feel you have achieved on the application form (see Section 5). In such case, your research proposal and transcript will be taken into consideration to assess your English language proficiency, and where needed, we may request an online/telephone interview as well.

5. Research proposal (in English, 1000-word length)
To cover areas such as background to research, aims, methodology, expected results, contribution to the field of learning etc.
* Please remember the Admission Committee places strong emphasis on this statement. Do not forget to sign your name and submit it to your application.

6. One paper/report/article previously written by the applicant (optional)

7. Two letters of recommendation from different persons

8. Bank statement (and a letter from your sponsor) *At lease 10,000 USD should be available to make the visa application process easier.
o If your funding includes sources that are not from your personal account, please provide the following:
" A letter from your sponsor or family member including:
his/her name, relationship to you, specific amount that he/she is sponsoring, address, date, and signature.
" An official bank statement showing financial support available for at least the amount in his/her sponsorship or a bank letter on official letterhead with the name of the bank, address, date, and signature of bank representative certifying the specific amount available.
o If your funding source is from personal savings, please provide a current bank statement indicating available funds.
o Not applicable for Korean citizens

11. THREE 3.5cmx4.5cm identical colour photographs taken within the last six months with a white or light background. Printed digital pictures are not acceptable. * Only ONE needed for Korean citizens

 
 
 

Information for Visa Application (for international students)

Once offered an admission to MAINS programme, students will need a D-2 visa to enter and stay in Korea. The following steps are taken for the visa application and you should allow at least two weeks for the whole process.
* If there are any changes in the policies of Korea Immigration Bureau, we will be providing updates by E-mail after the admission notification.

1.
To make your visa application process easier, the school, as your invitor, applies for a Confirmation of Visa Issuance (same as 'a certificate for Recognition of Visa Issuance') at a local Immigration office in Korea.

At this stage, students (invitees) must send all of the following documents (required by the Immigration office) to the school if they have not already done so at the time of the initial application process for MAINS programme:

a.
Two 3.5cmx4.5cm identical colour photographs taken within the last six months with a white or light background. Printed digital pictures are not acceptable.
b.
A photocopy of your passport. Only the pages with a picture and identification information are needed.
c.
Official transcript from the previously attended university
(must be translated and notarized if not written in English)
d.
Bank statement (may be exempted in some cases)
e. Family Registration Certificate (for applicants from China only)
   
2.
When we recieve the certificate, we send you the Confirmation number. This will be given to you through E-mail or phone call.
 
3.
Then, as the visa applicant/invitee, you will submit the Confirmation number to a Korean mission overseas, along with the following documents:

original passport
b.

You must write down the Confirmation number on this form.
Note) The Confirmation of Visa Issuace (a certificate for Recognition of Visa Issuance) is not equal to a Korean visa. Thus, if you arrive at ports of entry in Korea without a Korean visa, you may be subject to inadmissibility.
