The main objective of the department is to contribute to the
development of theology in Korea, not only by conducting research
in the theories and methods on Christian theology, but also
by cultivating clergy and church leaders and re-educating the
existing church officials and missionaries. Students who enroll
for the Doctoral course in ministry study the entire area of
Christian theology, its historical development, interpretation,
social application, and its social contribution. Though Anglican
in its denomination, the theological education of the department
is not limited to that alone, but also includes theories and
practices in general Christian Theology. Taking ecumenical approaches,
the department reeducates clergy, and clergy applicants, cultivates
specialists in mission fields and other religious workers, not
only in the Anglican Church of Korea but also in the churches
of other denominations. For this purpose, the department maintains
cooperative efforts with other related subjects such as philosophy,
history,
and social science, by offering courses, or by officially accrediting
courses taken in other departments. In all its endeavors, the
department pursues a balanced approach to theological knowledge
and tries to produce well-balanced, talented students with a
strong sense of responsibility, critical insight, and creative
sensibility. We provide M.A., Th.M., M.Div., D.Div., Th.D.,
and non-degree research programs.
The objectives of the department are summed up as the
followings :
to cultivate clergy & clerical personnel;
to cultivate church leaders;
to produce specialists in each mission field;
to re-educate clergy & church-workers.

The department attempts to develop the philosophy and music
incorporated in the church hymnals in the context of Korean
religious culture. Succeeding the 2000 year-long history of
Christianity and the theology and faith Korean churches have
developed, the department conducts a special program with
the aim of nurturing church music leaders who, with creative
imagination and flexibility, will contribute to the establishment
of uniquely Korean church
music. Envisaging the multi-functional potentiality of church
music in the future, this department exerts every effort to
cultivate church musicians and specialists who are able to
implement a new type of musical worship, using choir, vocal,
and instrumental music, while actively participating in
a variety of church events.
