The goal of the faculty is to raise specialists demanded by
society, who have professional knowledge and practical ability
in the basic disciplines of the social sciences, that is, sociology,
economics, and political science. The curriculum covers a variety
of subjects in each area and allows individual students to choose
certain subjects on their own, combine them, and devise his/her
own specialty. As an open model of major management, it certainly
is an advantage over existing university system.
Students
who pursue a B. A. in sociology have freedom to take not only
sociology, political science, and economics, which the faculty
originally offers, but also other related fields of study
allowed by their double major in the first 2 years of their
university study. From the 3rd year, they can get special
training and education in their double major area, including
NGO area, thus deepening their knowledge and expanding their
perspectives on future society. The faculty puts a special
emphasis on the tutorial system in which professors teach
their students on a one-to-one basis and heightens its quality
of education. In addition, small-group study activities among
students with the same major and similar interests function
as an incentive for the students?self-development and academic
progress.
